A Wet Ride and a Good Test Run

Today’s ride came with a little rain, but that made it a good chance for Ken to try out his new rain suit. The weather in Hartford was drizzly, humid, and gray, but he still got out on the bike and put in the miles.
The route took him around the Holy Hill area, with a stop by the Basilica and National Shrine sign for a few photos. Even with the wet roads and cloudy skies, he was smiling and making the most of it.
Ken said the rain suit worked really well. It has a double hood, with one hood that goes under the helmet and another that goes over the helmet. Most importantly, it kept him dry. He also said it was comfortable while riding and did not restrict his movement at all. When it got a little warm, he could easily pull up the pant legs, and he was even able to unzip it while still riding.

That may sound like a small thing, but on a long bike trip, good gear matters. Some days will be sunny. Some days will be wet, windy, tiring, or unpredictable. These training rides help Ken test what works, build endurance, and get ready for whatever the road brings.
This ride was another step toward the goal: biking around Lake Michigan while raising money to help ship Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts to children around the world.
Each $10 donation helps cover the shipping and handling for one shoebox. The goal is to raise $6,000, enough to help ship 600 shoebox gifts.
